Robert David Roberts married Elizabeth Jones the niece of his business partner David Jones - in 1867. She looks a bit fierce in this picture.
They had four sons – all of whom eventually
joined their father in the company business - and two daughters – Elizabeth and
Christiana. Christiana, his youngest
child, inherited Bron-y-Graig and lived here till her death in 1975.
This is just a summary of the detailed
family history of the Roberts, written in 2004 by Kenneth Hughes, Christiana’s
nephew. On Kenneth Hughes’ death his
research papers came to Bron-y-Graig, and I am indebted to him for the archive documents - all the originals are available for any visitor to Edge House.
